Plant Health Check

Is your rooftop solar plant delivering the returns your board approved? TerraFlux conducts independent health assessments for C&I installations — diagnosing underperformance, quantifying financial impact, and prescribing remedial action.

Commissioned does not mean performing

Many C&I rooftop plants in India generate below their modelled output within the first three years of operation. The gap rarely shows up as a catastrophic failure — it accumulates quietly through soiling, degradation, shading, inverter issues, and weak O&M governance.

0.75–0.85

Typical Performance Ratio for well-maintained Indian rooftops

<0.70

PR threshold that warrants independent investigation

5–20%

Yield loss from a single undiagnosed issue at plant level

When your EPC contractor or O&M vendor also grades their own work, no one is independently protecting your capital. A Plant Health Check closes that gap.

What drags rooftop plants below benchmark

Field assessments of underperforming C&I rooftops across India consistently surface the same categories of loss. A health assessment isolates which apply to your facility — and what each costs in rupees per year.

Soiling & cleaning gaps

Industrial dust, bird droppings, and infrequent cleaning reduce irradiance reaching modules. Losses can reach double digits in heavy-soiling environments.

Impact: 2–26% yield loss

Module degradation & defects

PID, microcracks, hotspot formation, and product defects accelerate beyond modelled degradation curves — especially in hot, humid climates.

Impact: 2–20%+ at plant level

Shading & layout drift

New structures, HVAC equipment, or vegetation not accounted for in the original design create partial shading that monitoring dashboards often mask.

Impact: 2–20% yield loss

Inverter & electrical faults

Clipping, thermal derating, loose DC connections, string mismatch, and misconfigured MPPT channels reduce output without triggering obvious alarms.

Impact: Variable; often undetected

Monitoring & baseline errors

Wrong PR baselines, sensor drift, and misconfigured SCADA make a underperforming plant appear healthy on paper.

Impact: Masks real losses

Weak O&M contracts

Missing PR guarantees, undefined reaction times, and no corrective maintenance SLAs allow chronic underperformance to persist year after year.

Impact: Chronic performance drift

Five dimensions of a Plant Health Check

Every assessment follows a structured engineering framework — from generation data to board-ready financial conclusions.

01

Capacity & generation analysis

Verify installed DC/AC capacity, establish weather-normalised performance benchmarks, and compare actual generation against your P50 design baseline using Performance Ratio and specific yield analysis.

02

Financial alignment

Reconcile actual output against the ROI, IRR, and payback assumptions in your original business case. Quantify revenue at risk in ₹/year — not just kWh variance.

03

Maintenance review

Audit O&M contract scope, cleaning schedules, work order history, spare parts readiness, and SLA compliance against manufacturer recommendations and industry best practice.

04

Component diagnostics

Identify underperforming equipment through SCADA analytics, infrared thermography, sample IV curve testing, inverter event log review, and targeted site inspection.

05

Optimisation action plan

Deliver a prioritised remediation roadmap — quick wins, medium-term fixes, and structural improvements — each with estimated kWh recovery, cost, and payback on corrective capex.

From data request to action plan

  1. Data intake

We request as-built drawings, commissioning reports, 12–24 months of inverter/SCADA data, utility bills, O&M contracts, and your original financial model.

  2. Desktop analysis

Engineers normalise generation against irradiance, calculate PR trends, segment losses by inverter and string, and flag financial variance against your approved business case.

  3. Site inspection

On-site verification with thermography, electrical testing, and physical condition assessment — focused on the highest-impact findings from desktop analysis.

  4. Health report & roadmap

You receive an independent report with fault register, ₹/year revenue impact, and a prioritised optimisation plan. Remediation execution is available separately through TerraFlux EPC if required.

Independent. Engineering-grade. C&I-focused.

Our health assessment mandate is commercially separate from EPC delivery — so findings are unbiased whether TerraFlux built your plant or not. Assessments are led by engineers who work in PVsyst yield modelling, grid interconnection, and C&I tariff structures every day.

  • Conflict-free review — not graded by your O&M vendor
  • Financial conclusions tied to IRR and payback, not just PR charts
  • Structured for facility owners, CFOs, and energy managers
  • Remediation available through TerraFlux EPC on a separate contract
